About Oversoul
In FFX-2, fiends get the Oversoul condition. The Oversoul condition is when a fiend at the beginning of battle attracts pyreflies and turns a darker shade that looks reminiscent of Dark Aeons.
An enemy with Oversoul is more powerful with more powerful abilities. You can also get better items when bribing fiends with Oversoul.
Oversoul Origins
In the world of FFX-2, defeating an enemy releases pyreflies. When a fiend get Oversoul, it is likely attracting the pyreflies of all of its relatives that you had defeated prior.
How to Get Oversoul
You can get Oversoul on an enemy by defeating a certain number of enemies in a fiend category. See the sections below to know the number you need to defeat.
For example, the Basalisk type takes 10 defeats to Oversoul. You defeat Kukulcan 8 times and Gucumatz 2 times, adding up to 10 times. They are both in the Basalisk category. Your next Basalisk encounter is Chac, which means Chac is Oversouled.

How to get Adamant to Oversoul
Adamant is also known as Adamantoise. They are armored, tortoise-like creatures that you can find in the Calm Lands, the Floating Ruins, and Via Infinito floors 33 to 35.
After defeating any Adamant 9 times, the 10th one is with Oversoul.
How to get Arachnid to Oversoul
Arachnids is a fiend type with two fiends: Aranea and Boris. You can encounter them at Bikanel Desert.
To Oversoul, after defeating any Anarchnid 8 times, the 9th one is with Oversoul.
