All Atelier Titles that Are on the Switch [2022]

Table of Contents

As someone who originally discovered Atelier games on the long-retired PlayStation Vita, it is a relief to know that the Atelier series is still portable.

See below for all Atelier games that are on the Switch as of March 2022, sorted by the most recently released to the oldest titles.

And if you want to enjoy Atelier games in a fun, social environment, you are invited to join my Twitch streams.

Direct-to-Switch Atelier Games

The following games were released directly to Switch and were not ported over from an earlier generation.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream (2022)

Atelier Sophie 2 is the direct sequel to Atelier Sophie. Most Atelier games feature a new protagonist, but the popularity of Atelier Sophie and Atelier Ryza got them their own successful sequels.

Atelier Sophie 2 continues the story from Atelier Sophie, but it introduces a new mysterious dream world and evolved game mechanics from the previous game.

I’m streaming Atelier Sophie 2 on Twitch and am finding it immensely enjoyable.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy (2021)

Atelier Ryza 2 is the first direct Atelier sequel with the same character in any modern Atelier game — Ryza, being the most popular Atelier game to date.

This game expands on the mechanics in Atelier Ryza, allowing Ryza to climb, swim, grapple to trees, ride monsters, and more. As a title, Atelier Ryza 2 feels substantial and complete, successfully following up on Atelier Ryza’s hype.

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout (2020)

Atelier Ryza is one of the most popular in the Atelier Series, featuring Ryza, who is well known for her fuller figure and her feisty tomboy attitude. The game is a coming-of-age story between Ryza and her friends.

Having played Atelier Ryza myself, the title’s story and gameplay is simple and more streamlined than the more ambitious titles like Atelier Firis.

Atelier Ryza is a great game to start with when getting familiar with the Atelier series.

Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland (2019)

Atelier Lulua is the fourth installment in the Arland series, which is one of the longest-running series among the Atelier games, lasting over a decade, with the series starting with Atelier Rorona (2009).

Lulua is the daughter of the main character of the first Arland game, Rorona. The game focuses on the craft of alchemy through generations, with Lulua desiring to surpass her mother as an alchemist.

Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings (2018)

Atelier Lydie & Suelle is the third game in the ‘Mysterious’ series, with Atelier Firis being the game prior. Having played Atelier Firis and loved it as my favorite storyline, Atelier Lydie & Suelle feels more stand-alone than it is like a sequel, with the events of Atelier Firis playing a smaller role in the game.

The story revolves around twin sisters who are very young and child-like in nature. They discover that they can jump into worlds inside paintings where the story begins. The twins are also aiming to become top alchemists in the town and they take on challenges to reach the top.

Atelier Ports

The following games are Atelier ports that you can get on the Switch. These games were previously released on other systems.

Atelier Mysterious Trilogy (Ported 2021)

The Atelier Mysterious trilogy includes Atelier Sophie, Atelier Firis, and Atelier Lydie & Suella. Atelier Sophie 2 would be considered another installment of the Mysterious series, but it is not included in the trilogy deluxe pack.

Atelier Dusk Trilogy (Ported 2020)

The Atelier Dusk trilogy includes Atelier Ayesha, Atelier Escha & Logy, and Atelier Shallie. This series is an older series, dating back to 2013. Atelier Ayesha is unique in that it has a darker storyline, with Ayesha trying to save her younger sister. The game also offers multiple endings, unlike other games.

The second game also features a male protagonist, which doesn’t occur in any other modern title.

Atelier Arland Trilogy (Ported 2018)

The Arland trilogy dates the farthest back to 2009 with Atelier Rorona. The Arland series includes Atelier Rorona, Atelier Totori (2011), and Atelier Meruru (2012). Surprisingly, the Arland series continues with the 2019 Atelier Lulua.

If you’re looking for a back-to-basics Atelier trilogy, this would be the one.

Are there more Atelier titles?

The full Atelier Series dates back to 1997 in the PlayStation One era. Atelier Series didn’t get ported to Western countries until its fifth title, Atelier Iris, for the PlayStation 2.

While the entire Atelier series is not on the Switch, the entire modern era of Atelier is — with distinctive features such as 3D anime-style models and cute female protagonists.

Gust has produced an Atelier game a year since 2001. We can expect Atelier games to go straight to the Switch for some time to come.
